breezy and cloudy, 24F @7am. 35F afternoon.
Set both baits and took covers off.
8:10 Tom spots an aldult bald over GVCG South bait and gets Bryan
8:30 Bryan and Tom return to find eagle feeding and capture eagle
Basic III bald eagle captured
10:15 Bryan passes NoCamping bait on way to give talk at the Museum to find an adult bald sitting over bait
10:30 Tom returns and watches eagle
10:50 Eagle descends, captured by Tom
Adult bald recapture 629-33040 Orange/Silver captured
crooked left leg middle toe talon, injured and unable to bend left leg well
possibly a released rehab bird due to injury
Derek helps process and bird is released
12:30 Bryan and Tom pick up roadkill cow elk beside the refuge
2:00 Tom heads to IF to pick up chickens and sees an ad BAEA above GVCG bait.
2:15 - BB heads out to GVCG and spots one ad BAEA feeding and the one TR saw above the bait still there. Called DC for back-up and by the time he got there, a third ad BAEA came in and sat above. Decided to wait for 2 on bait.
2:45 - after the two above flew around a few times, the one feeding took off to the W.
3:15 - One of the 2 above came down to feed. DC drove over to detonate and after waiting ~10min for the wind to die, detonated the trap and capturted ad BAEA. Other one took off. Re-cap of 22724 that was first banded as nestling on slide lake in 1996 and captured by us in Nov.
Did not re-set trap.
4:45 - Dan called in an ad BAEA sitting above NoC bait. DC and I went down @ 5 with banding supplies and bird was not present.
BB covered both baits.
